Achtung space-rangers, buy space bonds and prepare for the invasion! Iron Sky teaser — Space Nazis from the Moon Attack!
I love old 1930s-40s pulp sci-fi. It doesn’t need to be great, just half-way decently made. An example of one of these type movies I love is the retro sci-fi movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.Another movie that I have high hopes, for that falls in this category, is Iron Sky. The basic concept for this visually beautiful retrofuturistic pulp-style B-movie is simple; in 1945 the Nazi’s escaped from Earth in flying saucers. They landed on the dark side of the Moon and have been hiding out there ever since. In 2018 they launch their invasion on Earth!
Quote from the Finnish filmmakers:
The first teaser for Iron Sky - the upcoming scifi comedy from the creators of Star Wreck.
Check out http://www.ironsky.net/ for more info about the film - and how you can get involved in the production.
Another neat point to note is that this film is partially fan funded! These same Finnish filmmakers made the Star Trek fan film Star Wreck.
Here’s a partial quote from Wired.com online:
Thanks to a pair of knockout fake trailers, a team of Finnish filmmakers will soon start shooting an outlandish sci-fi Nazi movie financed in part by fans who flipped over the clips.
With 90 percent of the feature-length project’s $8.5 million budget now funded, casting for Iron Sky is nearly complete, with filming set to begin in Australia and Germany this fall.Check out the above cool youtube trailer with it’s haunting musical score! Buckle-up gang; we need to prepare to fight off the upcoming Space Nazi’s from the Moon’s flying saucer invasion!!
Buck Rogers and the World of Tomorrow by Patrick DeLeon
A charming fan project mixing elements of classic Buck Rogers with a score and visuals from Kerry Conran’s Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. DeLeon also runs a blog chronicling his impressive costuming efforts.
